Adult Running Sessions (Over 16’s)

We operate four training teams based upon ability, to allow our members to identify which team would be more suited to there current ability we link each team to expected race times.

If you are unsure which team would be suitable for you then please feel free to ask one of the team coaches before the session who will help identify which team you should join.

The six training teams are based upon the following warm up / cool down paces and overall session distances:

GROUP A1

  • between 7–10 miles
  • Coached by: Dave Evans
  • Warm up / cool down pace: 7.00–7.45 min/mile

GROUP A2

  • between 6–8 miles
  • Coached at Halewood by: Chris Wills
  • Warm up / cool down pace: 7.45–8.30 min/mile

GROUP B1

  • between 5–7 miles
  • Coached at Halewood by: Frank Murphy, John Connolly
  • Warm up / cool down pace: 8.30–9.15 min/mile

GROUP B2

  • between 4–6 miles
  • Coached at Halewood by: John McCaffrey, Jill Hudson
  • Warm up / cool down pace: 9.15–10.00 min/mile

GROUP C1

  • between 3–5 miles
  • Coached at Halewood by: Lisa Pritchard, Russ Owens, Alan D’Henin
  • Warm up / cool down pace: 10–11 min/mile

GROUP C2

  • between 2–3 miles
  • Coached at Halewood by: Russ Owens, Alan D’Henin
  • Warm up / cool down pace: 11+ min/mile

These paces should be a comfortable speed and significantly slower than interval/effort pace of to ensure effectiveness of the planned session. Runners should be able to maintain a conversation at warm up/ cool down pace, which should be at a similar pace or slower than long run pace.

The overall session distance includes warm up, effort/hill session & cool down. Overall distance will vary due to the individual session details.

There may be occasions when some training groups are unavailable due to coaching resources. During these circumstances, members are to join the next appropriate group (higher or lower) and coaches will accommodate members accordingly.

TRAINING SESSIONS COST

Below is the cost of training sessions

  • ADULT TRACK SESSIONS – £1 per session
  • ADULT ROAD RUNNING SESSIONS – FREE
  • GUEST COSTS: You are welcome to come along and try the club for free for a week, after this you can either pay £1 per session or join us.

If you are interested in helping to lead any of the groups, please inform the club committee and we will discuss the possibility of providing you with UKA (United Kingdom Athletics) coach training funded by the club.
